Understanding the Difference: hPSC-derived vs. HiPSC-derived Endothelial Cells

While both H9-EC (hPSC-derived) and HiPSC-EC (HiPSC-derived) are valuable tools for endothelial research and share many characteristics, their primary difference lies in their origin:

hPSC-derived Endothelial Cells were differentiated from a human embryonic stem cell line (H9), which originates from human blastocyst, whereas HiPSC-derived Endothelial Cells were differentiated from human induced pluripotent stem cells generated from Human Dermal Fibroblasts using mRNA reprogramming technology

These two cell types from ScienCell are highly pure but not recommended for expansion or long-term culture. They are maintained in the same Endothelial Cell Medium (ECM), which provides a balanced mix of amino acids, vitamins, organic and inorganic compounds, hormones, growth factors, trace minerals, and 5% fetal bovine serum.

✅ Each vial contains >1 x 106 cells in 1 ml volume

Suggested Research Use:

  • Modeling human vascular biology and disease: Offers a human-derived system for studying endothelial function and dysfunction
  • Drug discovery and screening: Ideal for evaluating compounds affecting endothelial cells
  • Microphysiological systems models: Applicable in advanced in vitro models as referenced in current literature.
  • Developmental studies: Enables research into the formation and development of endothelial tissues.

Recommended Medium:

Endothelial Cell Medium

(ECM, Catalog No. 1001)

A complete medium specifically designed for the optimal growth of normal endothelial cells in vitro. This formulation is qualitative and quantitative, ensuring selective support for normal endothelial cell growth.

ECM is a foundational component for various endothelial cell studies, providing the necessary environment for maintaining healthy endothelial cell cultures.
