Essential Solutions for Cell Dissociation and Handling

Efficient and gentle cell dissociation is a foundational step for many cell culture techniques. We provide options for both enzymatic and enzyme-free approaches, complemented by a dedicated neutralizing solution.

Trypsin/EDTA, 0.05% (Cat. No. 0183)

  • A sterile, phosphate, and HEPES-buffered saline solution
  • It contains 0.05% trypsin and .5 mM EDTA
  • The solution has a pH of 7.4 at room temperature
  • 0.05% Trypsin/EDTA is used to detach adherent cells from a culture surface

Also available:

Trypsin Neutralization Solution (TNS, Cat. #0113)

  • A sterile, phosphate, and HEPES-buffered saline solution used to neutralize the effects of Trypsin/EDTA solution (T/E; Cat. #0103) after cells are released from a culture surface
  • It contains 10% fetal bovine serum as a trypsin inhibitor and cell protection agent
  • The product has a pH of 7.2 at room temperature

Enzyme-free Cell Dissociation Solution (ECDS, Cat. #0123)

  • A sterile, phosphate, and HEPES-buffered saline solution that provides an enzyme-free method for detaching adherent primary cells
  • This product has a pH of 7.2 at room temperature
  • ECDS is used to detach adherent primary cells from a culture surface

Reliable Buffers and Cell Culture Grade Water

Consistent results in cell culture rely on high-quality cell culture reagents.

Dulbecco’s Phosphate-Buffered Saline (DPBS, Cat. #0303)

  • A non-toxic, isotonic buffer
  • It is specifically formulated without Ca2+, Mg2+ or phenol red
  • Colorless and meets specifications for pH (7.4 ±0.2), Osmolarity (290 ± 20), and Endotoxin level (<0.5 EU/ml).

Cell Culture Grade Water (CCGW, Cat. #0600)

  • Designed for use in all cell culture applications
  • This ultra-pure water is DNase, RNase, and pyrogen-free and is negative for protease activity
  • It undergoes purification via activated carbon, deionization, ultraviolet disinfection, and distillation, and is filtered through a 0.2μm membrane filter

Enhancing Cell Adhesion

Promoting consistent cell attachment is crucial for growing adherent cells

Poly-L-Lysine, 10 mg/ml (Cat. #0413)

  • A synthetic, positively charged amino acid chain
  • It enhances cell adhesion by altering surface charges on the culture substrate
  • This concentrated solution contains polymers in the 70 - 150 kDa range
  • PLL is commonly used as a coating agent to promote cell adhesion in culture.

Accurate Cell Counting and Viability

Determining cell number and viability is fundamental for downstream analysis.

Trypan Blue Solution (0.4%) (TB, Cat. #0203)

  • A stain used to distinguish viable from nonviable cells
  • Nonviable cells will absorb the dye and appear blue, while viable cells will exclude the dye
  • Trypan Blue solution is used for cell counting and viability assessment
