Human Pluripotent Stem Cell Derived-Dopaminergic Neurons
Includes 1 vial of frozen HPSC-DN (Cat. #1740, 1 mL, >1 x 10^6 cells/vial), 100 mL Neuronal Maintenance Medium (NMM, Cat. #5951), 2 mL Dopaminergic Neuron Supplement (DNS 50X, Cat. #5912)
Midbrain dopaminergic neurons are essential for brain functions spanning reward prediction and reinforcement learning, motivation, and motor control via well-defined dopaminergic pathways. Degeneration of substantia nigra dopaminergic neurons is a core pathological feature of Parkinson’s disease, and dopaminergic dysfunction is also implicated in broader neuropsychiatric disease biology. The developmental “molecular code” that specifies mesodiencephalic dopaminergic neurons—including key transcriptional regulators—has been extensively defined and has directly informed in vitro differentiation strategies. Human pluripotent stem cell platforms have demonstrated generation of authentic midbrain dopaminergic neurons with long-term survival and functional efficacy in preclinical Parkinson’s disease models, supporting their value for disease modeling, drug screening, and translational research. Human Pluripotent Stem Cell-derived Dopaminergic Neurons (HPSC-DN) from ScienCell Research Laboratories provide a robust, reliable, and consistent off-the-shelf option for human dopaminergic neurons.
HPSC-DN are cryopreserved and delivered frozen. Each vial contains > 1 × 106 cells in 1 ml volume. HPSC-DN are characterized by immunofluorescence with antibodies specific to pan neuronal marker βIII-Tubulin (TujI) and dopaminergic neuronal marker tyrosine hydroxylase (TH). HPSC-DN are negative for mycoplasma, bacteria, yeast, and fungi. HPSC-DN can be cultured under the conditions provided by ScienCell Research Laboratories. HPSC-DN are not recommended for expansion since the cells do not proliferate in culture.
