McCoy’s 5A (modified) Medium
McCoy’s 5A modified medium contains 1.5 mM L-glutamine and 26.2 mM sodium bicarbonate and is designed for use in a 5% CO2 incubator. McCoy’s 5A (modified) medium requires supplementation with 10% Fetal Bovine Serum.

Originally developed to support Walker Carcinosarcoma 256 cells and Novikoff hepatoma cells, McCoy’s 5A Medium was first formulated using the vitamin and amino acid compositions from Eagle’s and Medium 199 with modifications. Later, McCoy’s 5A medium was further modified and supplemented to support the culture of a wide range of cell lines and mammalian cancer cells.
