Bovine Meningeal Cells
Bovine Meningeal Cells (BMC) are cryopreserved at passage one culture and delivered frozen. Each vial contains >5 x 105 cells in 1 ml volume.
The meninges form three layers including the dura mater, arachnoid mater, and pia mater to protect the brain and spinal cord from injury. Meningeal cells contribute to the structural and functional integrity of the central nervous system. They help maintain the extracellular matrix of the meningeal layers and provide essential support for neurovascular development. Studies have shown that bovine meningeal cells (BMC) may influence neuroimmune interactions, particularly in response to infections such as bovine viral diarrhea virus type-2 induced meningoencephalitis. Additionally, in vitro research suggests that meningeal cells secrete factors that modulate neuronal survival and differentiation, highlighting their potential relevance in neuroregeneration studies. BMC can be used to further study diseases such as meningiomas, meningeal carcinomatosis, and meningitis.
BMC from ScienCell Research Laboratories are isolated from bovine leptomeningi. BMC are cryopreserved at passage one culture and delivered frozen. Each vial contains >5 x 105 cells in 1 ml volume. BMC are characterized by immunofluorescence and are positive for fibronectin and negative for GFAP. BMC are negative for mycoplasma, bacteria, yeast and fungi. BMC are guaranteed to further expand for 5 population doublings under the conditions specified by ScienCell Research Laboratories.
