Vascular endothelial growth factor B (VEGF-B) is a member of the VEGF growth factor family, characterized by a conserved eight-cysteine residue pattern and shared receptors. VEGFB specifically binds to the VEGFR1 receptor and is most abundantly expressed in heart, skeletal muscle, and pancreas tissues.
