The tissue of the central nervous system is made up of two classes of cells that may be broadly categorized as neurons and glia. Neurons are anatomic, functional, and trophic units of the brain. Neurons are dynamically polarized cells responsible for electrochemically transmitting information throughout the nervous system. Scientists have characterized hundreds of neuron types based on location, morphology and gene expression. The raphe nuclei are clusters of mostly serotonergic neurons located in the brain stem. Raphe neurons send projections to the forebrain, brain stem and spinal cord to regulate mood, memory and circadian rhythms. Primary mouse neurons-raphe (MN-r) are a useful in vitro model for studying conditions such as Alzheimer’s disease, depression, and narcolepsy.

MN-r from ScienCell Research Laboratories are isolated from embryonic day 14 C57BL/6 mouse brain raphe. MN-r are cryopreserved at P0 and delivered frozen. Each vial contains >1 x 10⁶ cells in 1 ml volume. MN-r are characterized by immunofluorescence with antibodies specific to β-tubulin III. MN-r are negative for mycoplasma, bacteria, yeast, and fungi. MN-r are guaranteed to further culture under the conditions provided by ScienCell Research Laboratories; however, MN-r are not recommended for expanding or long-term cultures since the cells do not proliferate in culture.

Recommended Medium
It is recommended to use Neuronal Medium (NM, Cat. #1521) for culturing MN-r in vitro.

ScienCell Research Laboratories 的原代小鼠中缝核神经元（MN-r）分离自胚胎第 14 天（E14）C57BL/6 小鼠脑的中缝核。MN-r 在 P0 代时进行冻存，并以冷冻状态运输。每瓶含有超过 1 × 10⁶ 个细胞，体积为 1 ml。MN-r 采用针对 β-微管蛋白 III（β-tubulin III）的特异性抗体进行免疫荧光鉴定。MN-r 经检测不含支原体、细菌、酵母和真菌。在 ScienCell Research Laboratories 提供的培养条件下，MN-r 保证可继续培养；但是，由于 MN-r 在培养过程中不会增殖，因此不建议用于扩增培养或长期培养。
