Fibroblasts

Fibroblasts

Fibroblasts are mesenchymal cells derived from the embryonic mesoderm and they perform many vital functions during development and adulthood. Fibroblasts are responsible for the majority of the extracellular matrix synthesis in connective tissue and play major roles in wound healing. Dysregulation of fibroblasts contributes to the progression of diseases such as cancer, pulmonary disease, and renal disease.
